Overview

The Mardi Himal Trek is a short, rewarding adventure holiday in the Annapurna region. Located east of the classic Annapurna Base Camp route, the trek follows a quieter trail from the hills above Pokhara through rhododendron forests, traditional mountain villages, and open alpine ridges toward the base of Mardi Himal and Machhapuchhre.

The trek offers a variety of landscapes within a relatively short itinerary. The lower sections pass through green hillsides, terraced farmland, and dense rhododendron forests, while the trail gradually climbs into a higher alpine environment with open ridges and rugged mountain scenery.

The main highlight of the Mardi Himal Trek is the hike to Mardi Himal Base Camp at 4,500 meters. From the upper ridge, you get close-up views of Machhapuchhre, Annapurna South, Hiunchuli, and Mardi Himal. The final section is particularly scenic as the trail climbs above the tree line and opens onto wide Himalayan views.

Along the way, you stay in local teahouses and pass through traditional mountain communities, giving you a chance to experience both the natural and cultural sides of the Annapurna region. After reaching the higher camps, the trail descends through quieter sections toward Siding Village, where a short drive takes you back to Pokhara.

Considering its short duration, varied landscapes, mountain views, and quiet trails, the Mardi Himal Trek is an excellent choice for travelers who want a genuine Himalayan trekking experience without committing to a longer trek.
