On the Trip FAQs

What does a typical trekking day look like?

Most days start early with breakfast before hitting the trail. We’ll walk for a few hours at a comfortable pace, with plenty of breaks to enjoy the scenery, rest, and refuel. We usually reach our next stop by the afternoon, leaving time to relax, explore, or simply enjoy the mountain surroundings before dinner and a briefing for the next day.

We choose accommodation and meals with comfort, hygiene, and your wellbeing in mind. In Kathmandu, you’ll stay in a comfortable 3-star or higher hotel with breakfast included. On the trail, we work with trusted teahouses and lodges that provide clean rooms and wholesome, hygienically prepared meals.

For camping trips, our experienced cooks prepare fresh meals throughout the journey, while our camping equipment and gear are carefully selected for comfort, reliability, and the conditions we’ll encounter.

Yes. Vegetarian meals are widely available throughout the trekking regions we operate in. Vegan options are also available at many teahouses and lodges, although choices can be more limited in remote areas. Let us know about your dietary requirements in advance, and we’ll inform the accommodation providers and plan accordingly.

Nepal uses the Nepalese Rupee (NPR). Cash is the most reliable option in rural and trekking areas, where card payments may not be available. Credit and debit cards are widely accepted in Kathmandu and other major cities, although it’s always a good idea to carry some cash when traveling outside the cities.

Yes. Drinking water is available at teahouses and settlements along most trekking routes. We recommend using boiled or properly purified water, either with purification tablets or a reliable filter bottle. Avoid drinking untreated water directly from streams or taps.

Tipping is customary in Nepal. If you’re happy with the service, a general guideline is to tip about 15% of the trek cost for your guide and 10% for your porter. For teahouse staff, a small tip of around USD 1–2 is a thoughtful way to show your appreciation for good service.

These are only guidelines—there’s no fixed amount, and you’re welcome to tip according to the quality of service and your experience.
